Green Lantern #67
I'm going to spoil everything, so don't read this review if you want to be free of that--although DC's solicitations for the Green Lantern books in October has kind of ruined things too.
At the end of this book Hal Jordan stands de-powered back on earth, only able to say, "This isn't how it's supposed to end." Well, I'll give writer Geoff Johns credit and say that it wasn't how I expected things to end. The Green Lanterns all fight that crazy-guy named Krona, the Guardians are freed of the emotional-spectrums, etc. but something interesting happens. Sinestro gets back a Green Lantern ring when he shows himself worthy, and the Guardians find themselves so upset and scared of Hal Jordan when he kills Krona they strip him of his ring and get rid of him unceremoniously. Then we are told things will continue in Green Lantern #1 in September with our new star...Sinestro of all people. Well, that's somewhat unexpected.
I wasn't that impressed with the comic until the end as it seemed to be going through the motions, but when it zigged where I expected it to zag, that was pretty neat. I figured it wouldn't be Hal Jordan as the new Green Lantern come issue #1 in September as DC was being all coy, but Sinestro? This almost makes up for all the issues that were dull which I mocked repeatedly on my blog during this "War Of The Green Lanterns" event. I suppose the "Aftermath" comics will provide a bit more of the character's thoughts on all this seeing as how the main series are wrapping up in anticipation of the re-launch--or now done in the case of Green Lantern.
4 out of 5 stars.
